A web address can outlive the thing that used to sit on it. Someone arriving here from an old link, an old email or an old memory deserves to be told plainly that they have not found what they were looking for, rather than being quietly redirected into something else.
So this page ships before anything else on the site, and it stays in the footer permanently. It is not a launch-phase formality to be retired once the traffic settles.

We cannot forward you, because we have no relationship with them and no standing to speak for them. If you had an arrangement, an invoice or an account with whoever was here before, that matter is with them and not with us.

Why old links do not go anywhere useful
Every web address that belonged to the previous site returns a permanent 'gone' response rather than being pointed at a page here. Mapping an old address onto a new and unrelated page is misleading to a reader and dishonest to a search engine, so we do not do it — even where the old address is one we would otherwise have liked to use.
A small number of the old addresses are permanently retired for that reason. Where you might expect a page and find nothing, that is why.
What this site actually is
A register framework for small independent businesses: each entry must be checked by a named person against a published bar and carry the date of its last check. The register currently holds no entries. Nothing in it can be bought, and nothing in it is rated. Are you the same people as before?
No. There is no shared ownership, staff, product, customer relationship or continuity of any kind between this publication and whoever previously used this address.
Can you pass a message to them?
No. We have no relationship with them and no way to reach them on your behalf. Anything addressed to them that arrives here is declined with a statement of non-affiliation.
Will you honour something the previous site promised?
No, and we are not able to. We took on none of its agreements and have no record of them. This is not an unwillingness to help; we genuinely have nothing to act on.
Why not just redirect the old pages somewhere sensible?
Because there is no sensible destination. The previous site was about something else entirely, and sending its visitors into unrelated pages would misrepresent both sites. The old addresses are retired permanently instead.
Are you going to reuse the old site's content?
No. We hold no rights to it and would not want to. Nothing on this site is adapted, rewritten or paraphrased from it.
Why publish this at all, rather than saying nothing?
Because someone will arrive here confused, and a site whose entire claim is that it tells you the truth about small businesses cannot start by being coy about itself.
