Removal procedure

A listing operator should make leaving easy, free and proportionate. This page describes that standard. Send a removal request through Contact, identifying the entry and the requested change. Reading this procedure alone does not send a request.

The unconditional-removal standard

A conforming publisher must charge nothing, require no reason, offer no incentive to stay and avoid unnecessary identity or account hurdles. A request to remove exposed personal information must take priority over a dispute about the underlying fact. See the Line.

The publisher may need proportionate confidence that a request comes from the operator, such as a reply from an associated address. That must not become an intrusive identity-verification obstacle.

Scope of a request

The procedure covers an entry, a tombstone, a factual passage, an attributed quote or exclusion from discovery rotation. A request never to be listed again must be recorded and honoured; it must not silently expire.

A conforming removal must reach the public page and any supplied export. A consumer holding an old copy should also honour the removal. No export or automated removal workflow is supplied here.

Prepare a useful request

Identify the listing by its URL or business name. State what should change: removal, correction, quote removal, rotation exclusion or a permanent exclusion. Provide a reply address only if confirmation is wanted.

Use Contact for a listing on this site. For another site, use that publisher’s independently verified contact channel. For another directory, read how to get removed from a directory.

Retention and privacy

After removal, a conforming publisher should keep only the minimum needed to honour a permanent exclusion and explain a factual correction. It must not reuse the removed entry, add the operator to a mailing list or publicise a private removal as an event.

A correction to a published fact belongs in the correction reference. A plain voluntary removal does not require a public announcement. No completed-removal log or turnaround metric is claimed here.

Third-party reports

Someone who is not the operator can identify an apparent error or closure. A report is evidence to check, not authority to remove a business on someone else's behalf. The method defines the verification sequence.

Read the register schema for the data boundary and the submission criteria for the entry bar. The guide links to the live, reviewed submission workflow.

Questions about removal

Can I deliver a removal request here?

Yes. Use Contact for a listing on StumbleBees. Requests are reviewed by a person; removal from another site must go to that site’s operator.

Should removal require payment or a reason?

No. The reference standard requires free, proportionate removal without retention pressure.

What if another directory will not respond?

Read the linked escalation guide and contact that operator. This reference cannot remove another site’s listing.
